Welcome to our Weekly Newsletter where we share relevant information with you about what has been happening here at Bracken Leas and events planned in future weeks.

Covid Isolation Rule Changes

From Monday 17 January, people with COVID-19 in England can end their self-isolation after 5 full days, as long as they test negative on day 5 and day 6 and do not have a temperature. Individuals who are still positive on their rapid lateral flow tests must stay in isolation until they have had 2 consecutive negative tests taken on separate days starting on day 5.

Considerate Parking Reminder

Safe and Considerate Parking

Please can we ask for your support and consideration driving and parking around Bracken Leas. The local residents are reporting increasing concerns to us about potential accidents that could happen due to inconsiderate parking. It is important to us to maintain positive relationships with the local community but above all the safety of our children is our primary concern, so please take time to read and follow the guidelines below.

Parking on all roads around the school

  • No double parking- the roads should be clear for an emergency vehicle to access at all times.
  • No blocking of private driveways at any time; access to private property should always be clear.
  • Leave appropriate space for residents to be able to reverse from their drive easily and with a clear view.
  • Avoid small local residential roads- De Quincy Close/ Ashwin Close/ Wodhams Drive. These roads do not have capacity for extra parking.

T Junction- Magdalen Meadows onto Pavillons Way

  • No parking directly opposite the junction or close to the junction so that cars can pull in and out of the junction safely with a clear line of view.
  • No parking close to the drop curb crossing from school across to Magdalen Meadows. Parents and children need a clear view to cross safely.

General reminders

  • Please ensure that you park and allow your children to exit safely from the car in a safe place. We are seeing many children being dropped off and running straight across roads.
  • Please do not cross the road between parked cars. Please use the crossing on Pavillons Way and encourage children to use it.
  • Do not stop on the zigzag lines near the crossing. This is an offence and can result in a fine.
  • Please ensure that you park and turn your engines off when you are waiting outside of school. We should all be mindful of air pollution and our contribution to it.
  • Finally, walk to school if you are able to! We will be encouraging walk to school days with the children in the summer term. We also have a bike rack where bikes and scooters can be stored and many of our children enjoy arriving at school this way.

Mr Possinger, our site supervisor, is always out on the gate keeping an eye on the traffic. Many thanks for your ongoing support and understanding in this matter.
