Welcome to our Weekly Newsletter where we share relevant information with you about what has been happening here at Bracken Leas and events planned in future weeks.

On Tuesday this week our younger children had a visit from some volunteers of The Wildlife Trust. They learnt about the importance of pollinating insects as well as a new initiative called ‘Brackley Bee Wild’ which aims to help wildlife thrive in Brackley. The Wildlife Trust have kindly donated some insect friendly plant seeds (with thanks to funding from Waitrose) which many children will be bringing home. There are growing instructions on the back of the envelope but these should be started indoors as soon as possible to give them time to grow before being planted outside in the summer (please note that some seeds are very very small so do take care when emptying the packet).

We and The Wildlife Trust, would love to hear how the children get on with their seeds/plants so please take some photos and send them in to us where they may be used on the Brackley Bee Wild page of the local Wildlife Trust’s website: www.brackleywildlife.wordpress.com

In addition, today we have welcomed Brackley Morris Men to school for an assembly on the playground. The children were enthralled and Miss Howarth was a great sport joining in with the final dance. We would like to say a special thank you to Liam, a former pupil at Bracken Leas, now in Year 8, for coming along to demonstrate his Morris Dancing skills.

Congratulations to our Year 5/6 children for their success in the cluster tag rugby this week. The team won all of their games demonstrating amazing teamwork and behaviour as well as fantastic sportsmanship.

Bracken Leas Spring Fair

We are getting very exciting about the FOBL Spring Fair next Friday. Please come along and have a look at the end of the school day, children should be collected at the usual time and location. This is great opportunity to run an in person event for parents and children for the first time in a long while and we look forward to seeing you then.

If you have a local business and you would like to have a stall they are £5 each and can be reserved by emailing rosieworts@gmail.com.

FOBL will also be looking for biscuit and cake donations next week – further details to follow.

This week our year 3 children enjoyed a fabulous visit to local woodlands for den building, wildlife hunting and general outdoor fun.

There is currently a Part Time Cleaner vacancy at Bracken Leas. Please click on the link for more details on how to apply.
