Leavers Assembly. Congratulations to our wonderful Year 6 children.
Leavers Festival 2022
We have reached the summer holidays and the end of our first full year back in operation. The end of term summer events have been a real joy and really emphasised the feeling ofbeing back and able to do everything normally once more.
The Hawksmoor Learning Trust are investing a significant amount in Bracken Leas this summer with internal works which will improve the office spaces and the learning environment in several areas. Year 5 and 6 will return to new toilets and a new cloakroom space, with a new additional teaching shared area in Year 6 and interactive smartboard. The library refurbishment in KS2 will be completed with an interactive smartboard and new furniture and the roof windows will all be replaced along the KS2 corridor. Key Stage 1 will return to a new shared teaching and learning area with an interactive smartboard and a new library area. We will also be developing a sensory area in September for all Year 1 and 2 children to access.
You will all notice a new improved look for our office administration team and, after many years struggling with office space, the working environment will match the demands of a very busy school! Finally, the school hall floor will be replaced. We are all very excited about the work and it represents the start of our next chapter developing the school.
I would like to thank you all for your support to FOBL events and to all the volunteers who give up their time to running them. The money enables us to buy the ‘extra’ things which school budgets do not allow for. I know the children are very excited to see that the new adventure playground is now under construction at the end of the school field and they will all enjoy this in September. My new wish for future fundraising is for an all-weather daily mile track for the school. Watch this space for news from FOBL on this next year.
This week we held a farewell assembly to say goodbye to three members of staff. Mrs Chiu has been a teacher here for 17 years and is retiring. She has been a popular, energetic staffmember with great dedication to Bracken Leas and the classes in her care. Mrs Dearsley has been a TA for over twenty years at Bracken Leas and is now looking forward to retirement and time to travel. Mrs Humphries, our Music teacher, also leaves us to pursue study to change direction in her career. Many of the children have enjoyed music lessons with Mrs Humphries as well as singing assemblies, choir and orchestra. We wish them all well for their
new ventures ahead.
Farewell Year 6
We also say goodbye to all of our fabulous Year 6 children. They have all worked incredibly hard and achieved excellent SATs results. We are proud to say that in all subjects, our results are significantly above national averages and in a period of recovery from the pandemic, we feel proud of the ambition we have held for all to ensure success. There have been many highlights for Year 6, but I particularly enjoyed their enterprise stalls at the summer picnic they raised an incredible £666! Wow! Thank you for supporting them in this.
I would like to wish all children leaving us this summer all the very best for continued success in their new schools. Remember the ABLE ethos in everything you do! If you are a family leaving us this time, many thanks you for your support and we wish you and your family all the very best for the future.
Wishing you all a happy and safe summer break and I look forward to seeing you all in September. School reopens for all on Monday 5th September.
