Some Beautiful crowns on display within school today.

It has been another busy term with our Platinum Jubilee celebrations taking place today.

It is the time of year when we start to look forwards to the summer and the children become increasingly aware of transition and period of change ahead. As we enter the final few weeks of the year, the calendar is busy with so much to look forward to, including transition days, and we will inform you with further details when all arrangements have been finalised in the coming weeks. We are incredibly proud of the Year 6 children who completed their SATs with such focus and determination. This was followed by an action-packed week away on their PGL residential and I know many of them were simply buzzing from the experiences, facing fears and learning so much about themselves. Lots of great memories made and we will enjoy continuing this in their final weeks at primary school!

Staff Farewells

This week we say farewell to Miss Howarth who has been a dedicated teacher here at Bracken Leas for 15 years. Many of the children will know her as our PE sports subject leader: she has been instrumental in ensuring access to sport and activity for all children in school, giving hours of personal time to organising events and fixtures across a wide number of sports. Due to her energy and commitment, the school has maintained the Gold Sportsmark award and received a merit during the pandemic year for sport participation. Miss Howarth is relocating to Wales with her family and I am sure you will all join me in wishing her all the very best for new adventures ahead.

Mrs Holmes, our school administrator, will also be leaving this Friday to start new ventures enjoying more leisure time and travel with her family. Mrs Holmes has been a cheerful welcoming face in the front office at Bracken Leas for 10 years and she will be missed greatly. The school office is one of the busiest hubs in the school and I would like to thank Mrs Holmes for all her hard work, always with a smile and positivity.

School Building Work

We have a number of internal building projects planned for this summer to improve the quality of the building and learning environment as well as the office administration space. This work will start during the half-term break with the wall being removed between the front office and my office. Mrs Harwood will be relocating to the conference room, which will be her new office going forwards, and the admin team will be able to work in a much larger space- very much needed for a school of this size! The building work should not affect our operation, but it will take time for the final decoration and furniture installation to be completed.

Thank you for your support as always and we wish you all a sunny half-term break. We will look forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday 7th June.

Great assembly this morning with traditional hats in a very regal setting. Tears, laughter and singing. Wishing Miss Howarth and Mrs Holmes all the best in their new adventures.

A fond farewell to Miss Howarth from children and parents at our Year 3 Sharing Assembly yesterday. A great performance from the children in wheir wonderful bug masks and clothing.
