Art and Design is generally taught through our creative curriculum topics or as standalone sessions based on a particular artist.

We aim to engage, inspire and challenge the children to equip them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As the children progress, they should begin to think critically and develop an understanding of how art and design can reflect our culture and creativity.

Throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage and key stages 1 and 2 the children will be given a variety of opportunities to explore their ideas and record their experiences when producing creative work.

They will use a range of materials and media to develop their skills in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art and design techniques and will find out about the work of a range of different artists, craft makers and designers.
