Through the teaching of RE, we aim to help the children to develop a responsible attitude towards other people, to foster their sense of wonder at, and reverence for life. We aim for the children to have an understanding of Christianity and other religious cultures.

We follow an RE curriculum determined by the local Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE), which is responsible for producing the locally agreed syllabus for RE.

By law this must ‘reflect the fact that the religious traditions in Great Britain are in the main Christian, while taking account of the teaching and practices of the other principal religions represented in Great Britain’.

At Bracken Leas we place a great emphasis on learning about and learning from religions. Our RE teaching is inclusive, encouraging all children to ask questions and explore the beliefs and traditions of others.

You have the right to withdraw your child from these lessons.
