Our Year 1 children wanted to share some of the letters and cards we have received back from St Rumbold’s Court to thank everyone for the hampers and kindness cards we sent to them. This included a card from Miss Underwood, the first Head Teacher at Bracken Leas! https://t.co/lWHugeKc5B
Today we are saying farewell to Mrs Hilton, volunteer at school for 23 years and member of staff for 12. We want to say a huge thank-you to her for being part of the Bracken Leas Family and wish her all the best in her new life by the sea! https://t.co/hyvFCOshG1
Earlier this week we said a final farewell to our Year 6 Leavers. The children were given an amazing Bracken Leas send off with our Farewell Festival. The current situation meant that we were unable to go ahead with the usual Year 6 Prom. However, due to some clever thinking, enthusiasm and a little help from technology, we were able to give them a send off that they truly deserved.
The children’s final day consisted of the traditional Leavers Assembly. Children remained in their bubbles, connected by Zoom and were hosted by Mrs Harwood and the Year 6 teachers. Shirt signing took place, adjusted to follow current guidance, and leavers hoodies and memory books were distributed to everyone.
This event was followed by a Farewell Festival on the field where the children were treated to pizza, ice-cream and cake. Everyone enjoyed an afternoon of awards, singing, dancing and fun before parents were invited to collect them for the last time.
Award Winners & Nominees
Over the course of the afternoon we celebrated the achievements of our Year 6 children with awards which varied from ‘Lockdown Legend’ to Sports, Reading and Musical achievement Awards. Everyone was included in our award ceremony, their achievements reflecting the journey they have been on at Bracken Leas.
Below you can see all of the children nominated for each award as well as the winners of the awards.
