The school welcome many specialist music teachers including; brass, strings, singing, guitar, woodwind and keyboards.
If you wish for your child to take up the opportunity of learning an instrument as part of their school day please contact the school office as there are waiting lists for many disciplines. Lessons last for approximately ten minutes per child, on occasion 2 children at a similar level may be taught together extending the lesson to 20 minutes in total.
Children who attend specialist music lessons do so during the school day. This may require them to miss part of a school lesson.
Should you have any concerns regarding the impact of this aspect you should speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance.
The Bracken Leas orchestra meets on a Wednesday from 3.15-4.15pm, usually from the beginning of November. The children learn to play their musical instrument as part of an ensemble increasing their accuracy, fluency, control, expression and musicianship. They have opportunities to perform in numerous concerts within school and further afield.
