Our Healthier Child Strategy

In August 2016 the Government released it’s Childhood Obesity – A plan for action. This document outlined the intention and responsibility we in the UK have to address the ongoing child obesity epidemic.

From September 2017 schools will be expected to prioritise and demonstrate a proactive approach to improving the health and wellbeing of everyone. Here at Bracken Leas we have developed, and will continue to evolve, a Whole School Food Policy  in consultation with parents and Paul Evans our Healthy Child Advisor.

At Bracken Leas we are committed to prioritising and embedding a culture of health and wellbeing throughout our whole school community.

Finally, the department for Education and Public Health are currently developing a framework for a Healthy School Ratings Framework and we are aiming to be one of the first schools to go for this rating.
