Safer Internet Day 2019 in on Tuesday 5th February and will be celebrated globally with the theme: Together for a better internet.
The last Safer Internet Day was the biggest yet with and more than 1000 schools and other organisations from across the UK getting involved. The aim is to to help inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively.
The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers, and wider, to join together and help to create a better internet.
Each year for Safer Internet Day the UK Safer Internet Centre creates a range of resources to help educational settings and wider to celebrate the day.
Here at Bracken Leas our Digital Leaders from Year 5 and Year 6 will be heavily involved in running sessions throughout the school on Safer Internet Day. Supported by the staff, activities will include PowerPoints, videos, drama based activities, artwork, quizzes and Scratch projects.
