This week we are shining our spotlight on Year 3 and finding out what they have been up to this term.

This term our topic has been Dinosaurs. Many of the activities we have been doing have been linked to this.

We have been learning about rocks, soils and fossils and the children have been finding out about how fossils are made. Many of them have brought in rocks and fossils to share with the class and discuss.

We have also been looking at pneumatic systems in science and have created our ‘pledge dinosaur’ to be located in our Year 3 outside area and linked in with recycling. He is starting to fill up nicely so please keep bringing in your green and brown recyclable items.

Everyone has been conducting dinosaur research both at home and at school in order to write their own non-chronological reports in our English work.

In Power Maths we have been learning about how to add, subtract, multiply and divide. The children have been doing really well, honing their skills in this area.

In Geography we have been developing our map reading skills, working with OS maps. We have learned about the key symbols on these maps as part of this work. We have also been learning how to locate the UK on a map and the various countries within it, comparing different parts of the UK and how they vary geographically and physically.

We have also been looking at relationships as part of our Health and Wellbeing curriculum, trying to determine the elements that make for a good friendship.

Finally, in Computing we have been looking at the topic ‘We are Presenters’, learning how to make, edit and perform in videos.
