Thanks to everyone for their tremendous response to our request for your photos of ‘Sunshine and Rainbows’. There are some beautiful pieces of work here and I am sure they have made many people smile when passing by your windows. It is great to see so much creativity going on in behind closed doors in everyone’s homes!

I hope that I have managed to capture them all from our Home Learning Zone. Please accept my apologies if any have been missed, there were just so many!

A letter from Mrs Harwood

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Here we are at the end of the half- term and what an interesting one it has been! Busy and challenging in many ways!

Distance home learning has now become a new way of ‘normal’ in our households and I am sure that you have all had your good days combined with some frustrations other days. Just to re-emphasise that we understand the challenges and know that you will all be trying your best. It has been lovely to see so much creativity and imagination on the Home Learning Zone. I love seeing the pictures of children enjoying themselves and the work they have produced. I think I might be commissioning a few cakes for delivery!

Teaching staff have been working incredibly hard to learn a new way of setting work and communicating with children. We will be releasing new planning and work for children to complete ready for the first week back after the Easter holidays. The work will be uploaded to Tapestry (EYFS) and Purple Mash (KS1/KS2) and a ParentMail attachment will be sent. It will include daily lessons for English and Maths as a guide to follow.

We will not be setting any extra work for the Easter holidays now as it is officially a time for children to rest and relax from school work. However, if you wish to continue some structure, please use the online platforms to continue doing what children are interested in. We would always encourage daily reading and practise of quick recall Maths.

Finally, our Ofsted inspection at the beginning of March seems like a long time ago and we are still in the position of waiting for our published report. Just to update you, it states on the Ofsted website that they will not be publishing reports from recent inspections until schools reopen as normal.

I wish I could be writing that I am looking forward to seeing you all back on the 20th April, but hopefully government updates in the coming weeks will give us more of an idea as to the future.

We will be checking emails in the holidays so please get in touch with any urgent enquiries or concerns. Details have been circulated on ParentMail today.

Please continue to take care and keep safe. I wish you all a very happy Easter!

Best wishes,

Paula Harwood and the BLPS team!
