Here at Bracken Leas we recognise the value of outdoor learning and both enjoying and enhancing the outdoor environment. The importance of ‘the great outdoors’ has long been regarded as essential for good mental health. This Children’s Mental Health Week is a good time in which to highlight what we are doing here is school to support our children.

Here at Bracken Leas we are incredibly lucky to have a qualified Forest School Leader; Mrs Hancock. Over the last year we have seen the transformation of the former Eco Area into a vibrant outdoor learning environment, regularly enjoyed by Early Years and Year 1 children in weekly outdoor learning sessions.

With a den building area, mud kitchen, raised beds for planting and central seating area, we are looking forward to Spring where our Forest School will come into it’s own.

In the past week we have also welcomed Brackley Wildlife Trust to our school where they have been supporting us with tree planting. A large number of saplings and hedgerow have been planted across the school both in the Forest School area and along the playground perimeter.
