Today we are wrapping up our ‘World Book Day’ week long celebrations with a Pyjama Day. Everyone has been invited to come to school in their nightwear, bringing their teddies and other beloved cuddly toys to school for the day. Many of our classroom doors have been transformed into book themed extravaganzas and our Year 6 children have been regularly visiting Early Years to read to them each morning.  Take a look at our photo gallery to see more of what we have been up to.

Last Friday we welcomed author Neil Arksey to our school for a day of workshops and discussion about his work as an author. In addition, yesterday we welcomed Trish from the Library to Bracken Leas for a reading themed assembly. Huge thanks to her for taking the time to visit us this week.

Throughout the week we have been taking part in the World Book Day Campaign-‘Share a Million Reads’, Highlighting the importance of reading and sharing stories with others. We will continue to record all of our reading activities for the duration of the campaign. To date more than 630000 reads have been shared as part of this and this week Bracken Leas alone has shared 3625 reads!

Today Mrs Webb, our English Lead, is taking assembly. As part of this the children are going to guess who has been behind all of the story books in our ‘Guess Who?’ this week. We hope you have enjoyed playing along on Twitter @Brackenleas1 and on our school website.
